The House That Grew — Fine Art Giclée Print

About the Work

Featured in the R.W. Norton's New Orleans in Art Exhibit, this mixed-media collage re-imagines a classic New Orleans shotgun house into a blooming symbol of growth and dreamlike Southern resilience. Playful mermaids lounge atop flower petals beneath purple second line parasols, while dragonfly-winged gators guard the threshold between magic and memory. Ornamental ironwork and violet irises entwine through the scene, evoking the rhythmic beauty of the Crescent City. Overhead, a hand pours from a watering can brimming with purple Mardi Gras beads—nourishing the house as it blossoms into something wondrously alive. “The House That Grew” celebrates transformation and rootedness, reflecting the endurance, vibrancy, and renewal at the heart of New Orleans culture.
